Halloween Has Always Been My Favorite Holiday!
This year my hubby and I were invited to a Halloween Birthday Party....it was a lot of fun. Great costumes all around! I have never really liked "cute" costumes, except on babies of course. Halloween to me is supposed to be Scary! Here we are before the party........kind of a Tim Burton type costume. I was a cross between the Corpse Bride and something from Beetlejuice and so was John. Would love for you to post your photos of Halloween 2011 here! Nothing too risque please....my kids read my Blog!
I went to the local thrift shop and bought my wedding gown. Of course I had to paint it and decorate it myself. The back of the gown had the same type of work as the front with TIL DEATH DO US PART painted down the back zipper.
Now, let's see what you got.....

Gotta Love A Good Yard Sale
Well, I love a good yard sale!
I just love stopping off, spur of the moment when I see a yard sale. You just never know what you will find. I can't believe what some people think of as trash! I just recently picked up an old metal sign. I think it was the type used for advertisements. It said MOM's Diner on it. I flipped it over and saw this amazing piece of metal just screaming to be painted! Needless to say, I bought it right away and headed back to my studio. Just listed this awesome creation over on Ebay: "ANGEL KING" Would love to hear from anyone who has re-used yard sale finds for either art or something else that gives you joy! Take it easy....going to hop in the pool! TTYL, Peace and Love, T

I was remembering a time way back when, when I was a kid. I always was getting into trouble one way or another. It seemed like most of the time I was punished for something. No matter how I tried to say I was sorry, it always came out wrong. I decided to stop trying with words and try to apologize another way. Do you know what always worked?...that's right, drawing a picture. It always got me off the hook. It always brought a smile to the face of the one that I had hurt, annoyed, pecked to death, totally aggravated, well, you get the idea. They appreciated the kind thought and I ended up with a big hug and forgiveness. It was a win-win situation, plus my artwork looked great on the fridge! So, I have decided to incorporate my paintings with "hard" words that are tough to verbalize. Why not just say what you need to say with one of my ART FROM THE HEART paintings? It's not a great feeling being in an argument, but lets face the facts peeps, we all LOVE to make up. I'm a lover, not a fighter and would love for you to get back with the ones you love, with my help! So, if you have a specific situation, list it here on my blog. REST IN PEACE DAKOTAH...we Love You
Life is amazing, and life is good, life is exciting, and life can also be hard. You live your life and share your life with loving animals. You get so attached and are so used to having them in your life. Enjoy them while they are with you and tell them always how much you love them. We were very lucky to share our lives with Dakotah for 16 1/2 years. We will miss her very much but know she is in Doggy Heaven enjoying a large pepperoni pizza(she always loved the crust!).....

I just finished this painting: Boy this was a fun one to create. She just was in my head and I just had to get her out and on canvas! This pretty mermaid is happily swimming along. She sports her shiny gold wedding band proudly, for she is married to the sea! I have incorporated so many different techniques and am totally pleased with the results. Hope she makes you smile! She is currently available on Ebay this week: "MERMAID: MARRIED TO THE SEA" Lots more photos too! Have a great week! Hugs, T

 Mermaid Painting Techniques
"FLOWER FOR MY HAIR"
Just thought that I would actually blog about my latest mermaid painting. I always get asked questions in regards to how I actually come up with an idea of what I am going to paint. To tell you the truth, I usually don't have a specific image in my mind. I never sketch out anything on canvas before painting....I just jump right in. Some find that quite unusual, but I guess it all goes into the schooling that I have had...oh that's right, I didn't go to art school! I think that is one of the reasons why collectors are enjoying my work. It seems to have a child-like side( so I am told). I am thrilled that so many people enjoy my work. It really touches my heart! Well, here she is: This painting is created on canvas that measures 10" x 30". I first started off choosing my color palette, then changed my mind about a dozen times and just made it up as I went along. I had some pieces of an old thesaurus book that rips just beautifully and really takes the paint well. I use lots of glazing techniques in my paintings along with water effects too. This particular painting needed that touch of something extra.....I am always trying new things and thought..what the heck....I was hungry and made myself an egg sandwich......hmmmm.....eggshells...now that will give me the texture I need for this ladies belly...and boy, it was just the right touch! I washed and dried the eggshells thoroughly and then used gesso and some matte varnish to attach to my canvas. I am quite impatient and usually speed up my paint drying with a hair dryer. I use my fingers a lot to add paint touches here and there. I am usually on my fifth cup of coffee when I have to use the ladies room....that gives me a chance to walk away from my creation and then come back into the studio and check out the painting......I always ask my family their opinions and take the end touches from there. My daughter usually wants to keep every painting for herself, but I just don't have that much wall space!! Please post your comments here...would love some feedback! Love, T

Well, another Christmas has come and gone....all the preparations, the cooking, the shopping, the relatives, the gift wrapping, the music, the eggnog, the candles that smell like sugar cookies, all gone for yet another 11 months. Each year things change just a little bit. Children are getting older and spending more time with their friends. Family gets just a little further away and the trips become less frequent and less time is spent together. Cherish every single moment that you have with your loved ones. Sometimes we are all so caught up in the hoopla of the holidays, that we don't take a moment to really, I mean really, know what we have. We do not remember days, we remember moments...that is a saying on a plaque that hangs proudly in our dining room. I think I read it everyday. I make it a point to give my children hugs each day....no matter how old they are, and I think they appreciate that. So before you get caught up in the "hoopla"....remember, time is precious and life is precious. Enjoy each day and enjoy your family.....
Love to all of you in 2011....

If You Live With A Clark W. Griswold, please share your story right here!
I happen to live with someone who just LOVES Christmas. He starts his devious planning way before Halloween. Blueprints, maps, well, maybe not that crazy, but he definitely is a planner. Lights, lights, lots of lights. God forbid we ever had a power outage(that he probably caused no less), the man would lose his mind. I think that he even has a back up plan for an outage anyway, a super long extension cord right to the electric company. OK, no he doesn't, but he is that serious when it comes to holiday decorations. It is no laughing matter I tell you and his family knows it. We all have our designated jobs come this time of year and on December 1st...come H*ll or Highwater, those decorations and lights will be ready to go! Will post more as the craziness builds. I will also be posting some photos.....hope you will share your stories and post some pictures too...... Till we meet again...... Gotta go make the hot chocolate with the little marshmallows in it. The village gets created today....you know, the ceramic one that has the mirror ice in the center of town......... Love, T
